What happens if the weather isn't good for my scheduled shoot?

You can reschedule your booking directly through your A Shot Across The Bow account up to 48 hours before your scheduled date/time. We will send you a reminder email with a link to reschedule 72 hours before.

How far offshore can you film?

Our drones can travel up to 5 kilometers over water. However we will work with you ahead of time to discuss the best sailing route

Are your drones limited by bad weather?

We can fly in the same weather that you can safely sail in.

Are there any restrictions as to where you can film?

There are areas where drones are prohibited from operating. We will work with you ahead of time to discuss the best sailing route.

Do I have to coordinate with you while you are filming?

We will talk to you ahead of time to come up with the optimal sailing route. After that all you do is sail your boat and leave the flying to us.

Can I purchase a package for someone else?

Absolutely. Our packages make wonderful gifts for the boat owner who has everything.

Do you only provide drone footage?

We have packages that also include onboard cameras as well as up-close dinghy shots.

What locations do you cover?

We focus primarily on the Golden Horseshoe. Ask about special booking packages in other locations.

Can we purchase as a group of boat owners?

We are very flexible. Ask about modifications to any package.

What is the difference between 'social media' and 'printable' images?

This refers to the number of pixels and therefore how large an image can be blown up.

These prices seem expensive. Can you justify the cost?

Our pricing is quite competitive when compared to other professional photography services (weddings, special events, etc.). And through our use of base packages and add-ons, customers are able to spend as much or as little as they choose.

What makes you different from other drone photography companies?

We combine our drone expertise with photography, videography and post-production experience as well as many years of hands on sailing knowledge.

What if I don't like any of the videos or photographs after I have paid for the shoot?

We take our customer satisfaction very seriously. And we work closely with you throughout the process to minimize the chances of you not being satisfied.

Can we choose whether or not to include music with our video? And can we choose the music?

You are given many options to choose from before we even start the shoot, including whether or not to include music. We can offer a wide range of royalty free music.

Can I have all the original files that you shoot?

We retain ownership of all material that we create other than what you choose to purchase from us

How many photos do you take in a typical 1 hour shoot?

We fly our drones above the action capturing as many images as possible. We are typically able to capture several hundred images depending on location and weather locations.

How long will it take to receive a gallery link that I can share with my event participants and what will participants be able to purchase?

Usually within 1 – 2 business days we will send you a link containing all images we captured. You share that link with your participants who will then have the opportunity to purchase the following directly from us:

    • Social Media photos
    • Large printable digital images
    • Canvas Prints
    • Metal Frame Prints
    • Fridge magnets
    • Coffee mugs

How does your Event Rebate Program work?

We share a percentage of the proceeds of all sales with you for a period of 30 days after the event. Our program is tiered in the following way:

    • 10% on sales up to $200
    • 15% on sales from $200 to $500
    • 20% on sales over $500
    • Breakeven point on our Cover Your Event package: $1,675 in sales or $33.50/boat with 50 boats
